#MNFoodPicks: Marigold

This time, we’re excited to introduce Marigold, Minneapolis’s first non-alcoholic bottle shop — a thoughtfully curated space for anyone looking to explore mindful alternatives to alcohol.

Origin & Inspiration

Marigold’s story is rooted in community, connection, and a little bit of courage. Owner Erin Flavin already had deep ties to Minneapolis through Honeycomb Salon, which she opened in 2010. During the pandemic, she noticed something shifting: clients were navigating new relationships with alcohol, and the non-alcoholic options available simply weren’t cutting it.

Inspired by her own decision to stop drinking in October of 2020, Erin began curating a small selection of unique non-alcoholic beverages within the salon. The response was immediate and enthusiastic. What started as a side offering quickly blossomed into something bigger, and in November of 2022, Marigold officially opened its doors on Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis.

Even the name carries meaning. Marigold is a nod to the Marigold Ballroom, a beloved old dance hall where Erin’s parents spent time together.

A SHOP WORTH EXPLORING

Marigold has made its bottle shop a go-to destination. The shelves are stocked with an impressive range of non-alcoholic craft beers, wines, spirits, and wellness-forward adaptogens and bitters. Reflecting the evolving landscape of mindful consumption, Marigold also carries a carefully researched selection of low-dose cannabis beverages and edibles.

Beyond beverages, the retail experience extends to unique fragrances, locally-made candles, gourmet snacks, and lifestyle brands like Baggu, Chunks, and Le Bon Shoppe. The Minneapolis location and online shop also feature premium haircare from Davines, Hairstory, and Shu Uemura, a nod to Erin’s roots in the salon world.

As Marigold puts it: “We’ve aimed to create a space where everyone can discover something they love.”

ROOTED IN MINNESOTA

Minnesota has embraced Marigold in a big way. “The response has been overwhelmingly positive,” Erin shares. “Minnesotans have truly embraced Marigold, and we’ve built an incredible community of loyal customers.”

Partnering with Minnesota-based brands and distributors has been a highlight, and the shop has found itself at the forefront of a growing local interest in both non-alcoholic and low-dose cannabis options.
