#MNFoodPicks Feature: crème

Welcome to our latest feature in the #MNFoodPicks series, where we highlight standout Minnesota food brands making their mark in the local culinary scene. This time, we’re excited to introduce crème, a small-batch dessert brand bringing Basque-style cheesecakes to the Twin Cities.

Origin & INSPIRATION

While crème officially launched in February 2024, the story began long before—with a sweet tooth, a pandemic, and curiosity in the kitchen. Founder Bilal found comfort in baking during the pandemic, experimenting with flavors and textures until he landed on one dessert he couldn’t stop making: Basque-style cheesecake. Drawn to its caramelized exterior and silky, creamy center, he spent months perfecting the recipe before taking the leap into business.

Operating out of a licensed commercial kitchen in Plymouth, crème began with weekly drops and Saturday pick-ups, quickly building a loyal following eager to indulge in this unique dessert.

PRODUCTS THAT INDULGE

crème’s specialty is its Basque-style cheesecake—caramelized on the outside, luxuriously smooth inside. The menu includes the Classic (OG), Cookie Butter, and seasonal creations like Pistachio Bloom and Dubai Chocolate. The classic variety is gluten-free, and all cakes are made with simple, high-quality ingredients. Whether you order a whole cake or just a slice, the texture and flavor offer an indulgent, elevated experience that stands apart from traditional cheesecakes.

COMMUNITY & CONNECTION

Minnesota’s supportive, curious food community has been a key ingredient in crème’s growth. Customers are eager to try something new, ask thoughtful questions, and connect with the person behind the product. Bilal has also felt the encouragement of other small businesses, markets, and local creators, making Minnesota the perfect place to build something meaningful.

A BRAND IN BLOOM

As a young business, crème is still growing—one handmade cheesecake at a time. Bilal hopes more people understand just how small and personal the operation is, with each order carrying the same care and attention that started in his home kitchen.
