Oenophile’s Dime Delight

Minnesota Monthly’s Wine Week has finally arrived, which means Twin Cities wine lovers can enjoy premier wines at some of the best restaurants in town. Your first glass is full price, but your second will only set you back one dime.

Now that the temps are warming up I’ve been getting back into white wines and am looking forward to Bar Lurcat later this week to try their featured Pinot Grigio. To tide me over until then I thought I’d ask around the office to see what wines others are digging as of late.

  • Anita is also feeling the whites with me, specifically New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. She likes to pair a glass of Monkey Bay with grilled fish and veggies for a delicious summer meal.
  • Montepulciano d’Abruzzos are at the top of Leah’s list. She loves that this type of wine is a soft red that is versatile to serve with anything from pasta to spicy vegetarian dishes.
  • Different varieties of Vinho Verdes from Portugal have been frequenting Amy’s wine rack. Trader Joe’s Espiral is a great option at a very economical price. It’s refreshing and crisp, almost fizzy, and perfect to enjoy on the patio after a long day.

Now that I have your palette watering for vino, be sure to check out Wine Week and tell us about your experience.
